Well hey there! I know it’s been a long time since I sat down at my laptop and started blogging (Gabby has written 6(!) blog posts since I last wrote about our love of DSLR cameras) but I’m happy to say that I’m back and ready to write!
Since it’s been a long time since I’ve talked to our Swirl readers, I thought I’d recap my spring semester and talk about my summer plans! Read on to find out what I’ve been up to and what’s in store for the next few months.
WOW this semester went by so fast! It was bittersweet in January with friends returning from fall semester study abroad but also friends leaving for spring semester study abroad!
I have to take a fine arts class as a University requirement, so I signed up for “Intro to Poetry” on a whim. It actually ended up being my favorite class of the semester! The class was such a nice break from all of my engineering classes, and I loved writing poems about food and the beach.
It was also a “mild” winter at Notre Dame – “mild” meaning “not negative 20 degrees like it was freshman year”. My parents came up for junior parents weekend in February, and it was 70 degrees and sunny! Which of course meant that I broke out my camera and took pictures all around campus.
And of course, when the tulips bloomed in the spring, I took more pictures.
I also spent two weekends in Chicago – one for a conference, and one for a career trek. Chicago is an amazing city and it’s great that it’s only 90 miles from South Bend.
Eataly is quite possibly my favorite store / restaurant in Chicago (hello, Nutella crepes!).
The weather was particularly nice during the conference, so we walked along the Magnificent Mile and Lake Michigan.
And of course it wouldn’t be Chicago if we didn’t stop at Cloud Gate, aka “The Bean”.
For Spring Break, Gabby and I were both home! My friend Sarah from Oregon came to visit me as well, so of course we basically spent all of our time eating and shopping.
And then soon enough it was finals week and move-out! This semester honestly went by in a blur, as does almost every semester in college. And here we are. SUMMER.
First, Denver! A few friends and I are taking a mini-vacation to Colorado, so look out for a blog post (and maybe a vlog!) soon.
Then, I start my consulting internship! I’m excited to get a “real person” paycheck and wear business clothes. When I’m not at work, I’ll be writing posts and taking pictures so Gabby and I can grow the blog. Our page views always skyrocket in the summer, and I hope we can keep those great page views going once Gabby and I go back to school for senior year. SENIOR YEAR. WHAT. HOW. I’m super excited but slightly terrified that I’m getting closer to adulthood. First apartment? Excited. Taxes and bills? Not excited. But let’s get through this summer first!
How did your semester go? What are your summer plans? Let me know in the comments or tweet us @theswirlblog. We love to chat!
